Spicy Black Bean Brownies


1 can 15 oz black beans
2/3 cup Ghirardelli dark chocolate powder (60% chocolate)
3 large eggs
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoon maple syrup

Optional ingredients:
2 teaspoon instant coffee
1 heaping teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cloves
pinch of chili
dash of vanilla
1 cup of ghirardelli 60% chocolate morsels
1 cup nuts


Mix all the ingredients together in a blender – except the chocolate morsels and nuts if using. Once blended together pour in to a 8×8 greased baking pan. Add nuts and chocolate morsels.

Bake on 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Careful – do NOT over bake as they can become dry.

Serving Size: 9 brownies

Number of Servings: 9


Chocolate can be greatly enhanced by using heady spices like cinnamon, cloves and chili. The chili can be a fantastic flavor enhancer if it rests in the background just to wake up the taste buds.
